Saturday Sketch and blog candy: Turtlely Awesome

YEAH!!!!
My Michael Strong sea turtle stamp
has finally crawled into my mail box.
This calls for a celebration!

I have one extra stamp (in the package there
are two stamps: the turtle and the seaweed)
for a give-away

How can you enter?
1. become or are a follower of my blog
2. leave a comment and make sure I can email you
3. any suggestions for turtle sentiments??

On Saturday August 3 I will announce the winner.

Now here is my first turtle card.
I made it for a sketch challenge

Wondering about some of the techniques I used?
Here follows a description:

The background of the card is made with alcohol ink
and I used the colors citrus, pool and stream.
If you like this, but you don't have alcohol ink,
you can use my background.

by saving above picture to your
computer with a click of your right mouse button.

The seaweed on the alcohol ink background is
embossed with lime green embossing powder.
The sentiment is printed with the
computer in the font called skwirl
(you can find it free on www.dafont.com)

I stamped and embossed the turtle in black
and colored the image with distress ink in the
colors peacock feathers, broken china and
mowed lawn by putting a drop on my craft sheet
and adding a drop of water.

To give rhe card some extra bling there
are a few sticky gemstones on his shield and
on the background.

Thanks for looking and leaving your comment.

Have a creative day!

this is gorgeous! not only is it a fun stamp set, but that bg you have created has me in awe! not very creative with ideas here, but 'swimming by to tell you hi' is all that's coming to mind.... pretty lame, I know.

enjoy your weekend!

Hetty, the background you made is so perfect for this design, great stamps (as always from Mike!) and a lovely use of them here.

"Shell we meet....? (for lunch/coffee/tea/etc.)

Hetty! I love it! The colors and design are so rich and deep; almost looks 3D!
How about "Don't stay in your shell- go party on your birthday".

Hetty, what a stunning card! Perfect color combo for the background and great composition. I like the gems, too.
I'd love to win Mike's Turtle stamp set, thanks for the chance.
As always, thanks for sharing your art and the process, it's inspiring.
Of course I'm a follower, and any sentiment with "truely" can be adapted.

Beautiful card, Hetty!
I love the background.
Mike did a great job, as usual!
And for a sentiment I would say:
Don't hurry, be happy!

This is a beautiful card. I love sea turtles.

A sentiment could be "I see I'm a little slow in wishing you a happy birthday."

or

"I would stick my neck out for you."

Een sentiment is lastig. Sorry. Ik kom niet verder dan "overal thuis" ;-)

Hey Hetty, As always I LOVE anything & everything you do!!! Am I to late to enter? Mike's new turtle is adorable, and I almost forgot to enter! Thanks again for the chance. I have a friend from high school and he I recovering from a stroke, and the turtle is his logo, so this would be perfect for him. Plus it is adorable!
