Welcome to another
This month we feature the February kit
called: Crewel & Unusual.
I hope you came over here from
and enjoyed her artwork for this kit.
When I was thinking of what to make for
this kit I was inspired by this picture:
I absolutely loved the spools that came with this kit
And here is my project:
A box with decorated spools.
I started with measuring the spools and making
a template for the box.
The box measures 4,5" x 3,5"x 3"
and is made out of heavy kraft paper that I
sprayed purple and decorated with the purple
decorated paper.
The finished box looks like this. Complete with a ribbon
from the kit and flower on top with one of the buttons
that was in the embellishment pack.
Here a close up of the top of the box.
Now move on to what is inside the box.
There are two kinds of spools.
Little cards and decorated spools.
First I show you how I made the decorated spools.
I colored the background with a stencil and purple ink.
And the top and bottom stitches are stamped
with the same purple ink.
Here you see the other two spools and how
I used some other stencils on them.
On the plain green paper I printed some sentiments
and a few vintage pictures that match the sewing theme.
Here are the finished spools from one side.
I added vintage pictures from my family.
Left is my mom, in the middle it is me and
to the rightis my mom and my grandmother.
Here the backside of the cards. I love the tassles that came with the
embellishments. When I added them to these spools it gave it even
a more vintage look. I colored the images with pencil and
here and there I added a few sticky pearls from my stash.
Now to the other spool cards:
These are little real cards you can add to a bouquet of flowers
or a little gift. They are 3x4 inch (6x4 inch folded).
You might want to find your punchboard and get
punching! I found a you tube tutorial
here explaining it
all. I just made a diffrent size to fit my box.
This is a 4x6 inch card and I have made these before.
You find a complete spool card technique tutorial is
here.
All you need is your enveloppe punch board.
For this card I used the deorated ivory paper
4 x 12 inch folded lengthwise in half.
The sentiment is one of the cut apparts
that came with the kit asdid the beautiful
wide red ribbon.
Here you see the way this card is standing
and really looks like a spool.
As I was unlucky that my box was totally wet when arrived,
that is why I made little things with the good paper
that was left. Club Scrap was so wonderful and send
me abox of new paper, that arrived yesterday.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
