Be my Valentine Blog Hop (Operation Writing Home)

This card is made especially for a
Blog Hop on a Operation Writing Home.
This is an organisation's mission is supporting the U.S. armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.

The blog hop this weekend is for making and sending Valentine cards to the troops that they may send them back to their loved ones. Our military personnel don't always get to shop for cards for the holidays and special occasions. Heck sometimes they only have pencil stubs to write with. OWH sends 100's of thousands of cards to our troops so that they may send a special one of a kind handmade card home to their loved ones for birthdays, anniversary, Christmas and now Valentine's Day. The Christmas wishlist for cards is full so we are concentrating on Valentine Cards until January 7, 2011

Please will you vote daily at Joanns:

Here is my card.
Done witha a digital stamp of Bonibleaux Digital Designs
and she is supporting this Blog Hop. I choose her Henry Hero for my card.

This is the front of the card. The Hero is colored with copic markers and cut out with a nestabillity shape. The words have been printed with the computer, All is glued to some scrap paper.

Now we move on to the inside of the card. For when you open it there is a lot more to see..........lots of hearts in fact and I show you here how you can do this. It is an old and fun way for cards and I did this lots of time with the children in my class.
The paper you need to make this card is 9"x 12". Do not use to heavy paper, just printer paper is best.
Of course, glue, a pencil, bone folder and scissors come in handy!
Start by folding your paper in half (short side down).

The double folded paper is now folded double again, like a booklet.
Open the last fold. Take top left en right side and fold them towards the middle fold.
Open the total paper and see you have an X in the middle of the paper.
Now here is a bit of a difficulty: to explain and to do, so I do hope the picture helps out!
We are going to refold the shape with the middle fold towards the inside. The triangles will be inside the fold now.

And when done it will look like this. Flat and the triangles inside.

Fold sideways like a book.
You can use the heart pattern or draw your own.
Make sure you draw the hartpattern like this: the dotted line on the closed fold side and the point of the heart on the point of the shape. Take a good look!

Now cut the heart with the scissors.
When you open the hear it looks like this.

Take your folde card and open it, for the heart will be inside the card.
Fold the hear again and use tape or glue on one side only. This way you make sure it will be glued just on the right spot. When you glues one side, you turn the card over and glue the other side to the card.
When you open the card it will look like this. Now you can decorate.

Hope you enjoyed the lesson and will have fun making this card.
Kids especially do love to make them.

Because this is a huge blog hop you have to move on now and the next stop of this hop for you is:
ANITA at Cards & Coffee
Have a creative day!
