Sunday Scrap page: Safari

Last week we took Owen on his first safari.
He is wild about animals and so when his mom
and dad had other things to do, we took Owen to
a Dutch Safari Park called Beekse Bergen.
He had the time of his life and did not want to miss
anything all day. A bus drove us through the park
and the driver told us all about the animals. We had a special day.

I made this page with Safari papers from Club Scrap

and the giraffe stamp from Michael Strong.
I colored the image with pencil.

Thanks for looking
and have a creative day!

Pink Ribbon

October is the month of
breast cancer awareness.
It is important to keep on checking
yourself and supporting others.

I have a little project today
that you can use as a gift or as
a thank you.

These little boxes can be filled with sweets
or a little gift. They are made with a thinlits die by  Stampin'Up!
This is the die. You cut out this shape twice
to make one box.

For these boxes I chose some pink paper from
a  designer papers block.

Glue them together like thi and fold the
outsides upwards.

First the parts with the handles and hold them together
and slip the other parts over the handle one by oneand the box is ready.
As the paper is already quite busy,  I made a little
card with the box.
For decoration I used Michael Strong's Cloisonné Accent
circle stamp. Stamp the circle with versamark and
emboss with white embossing powder. Then cut out with
a circle punch.
These circles I used to conscruct a bra on top of the
card with pink ribbon and some sticky gemstones.
The text is printed with the computer.

The other box I decorated with the bra.
Here you see how I did that:
On the folding line I cut little slits to pull
the ribbon through to the back.

On the backside I taped the ribbon down.

Here the finished box with a label I found on internet.
I have been looking high and low to add the link to this blog,
but could not find it any more. I hope the maker is not offended
by me sharing this freebie with you:

Stay strong
and have a creative day!

Happy World Card Making Day 2!

What would WCMD be without a card
from my favourite CLUB SCRAP?

So here is my card and as a treat
I have a tutorialfor you as well!

The background to this card is done with a stencil from
the CS Blueprint October kit.

Club Scrp has lots of stencils and you might want to
know what to do with these stencils. Well the Technique Junkies
have just come up with a CD with 40 tutorials on
what to do with stencils:

For this technique you need:
cardstock
gelatos
baby wipes

Use the gelatos to color your paper randomly.

Use your finger or a finger sponge to rub the
crayon color together over the card.

Lay down the stencilon top of the card
you colored with gelatos.

Take the baby wipe and rub over the stencil
to take away some of the color.

This is the finished background when
you take of the stencil.

Beautiful, right?! Harly need toadd anything else.
More of these easy and wonderful tutorials

Thanks for looking and
have a creative day!

Happy World Card Making Day!

Of course I have to make a card on World Card Making Day!
I hope you all have fun making your cards today.

I share with you this pumpkin card.
The pumpkin is a free digital image by Michael Strong
and you find it HERE.

You can download the image to your computer
and use in all kind of different sizes for your projects.

If you have no idea about how to use digital stamps
I found this site where they explain a lot about it:

For this card I printed the pumpkin on white paper
and colored the image with distress markers.

The background of this card is done in the
Colored Stone Silk technique by the Technique Junkies.
You find the tutorial for this technique in the
August/ September 2014 newsletter.

BTW:
Have you taken the Michael Strong
Anniversary Blog Hop?
Did you leave a comment to win a stamp?
If not,you can still do so today.
Tomorrow I will announce the winner of the stamp.

Go here for the BLOG HOP.

Thanks for looking
and have a creative day!

Happy Birthday,Mike!

Today is Michael Strong's birthday,
so Happy Birthday Mike!!
Hope you have a wonderfulday.

Of course I  had to make a card today
with one of Mike's images.
On his blog he has a free digital image
of a pumkin and you can download this
to your computer to use as you want HERE.

I printed the pumkin on white paper ready to color.

To color the pumpkin I used bistre powder.
I also used the same powder to make the background
with the pumpkin. The leaves are a die from Tim Holtz
and the bird is a die from Michael Strong.

When you open the card, you see that the card is an
easel card with a little post it notebook inside.

The sentiment you see on this card, I found on internet
and just typed it up with my computer in word
and printed it to use on this card:

October time is
PUMPKIN TIME
the nicest time of year,
when all the pumpkins
light their eyes
and grin from ear to ear.

I added a fun sentiment on the first page of the post-it book.
I used the left over paper from the front background to stamp
the letters fall with copper embossing powder.

Hope you are inspired to download the pumpkin image
and have fun with it!

Have a creative day!

Michael Strong group Anniversary Blog Hop

Welcome to our
Michael Strong
Aniversary Blog Hop.

Six years ago I decided to start this group
and now we have over 500 members.
If you like the stamps Michael Strong
designs, you are welcome here:

I hope you came over here from Laura's Blog
and her story about how she became a
member of this group.

This my story:
I loved watching TV Weekly
and one day Michael Strong showed a card
using his heart stamp. Here you can see
the video too (click on the arrow of the picture blow,

I ordered the heart stamp right away, for I wanted to use
it for making the wedding card for my daughter.
I did not want to copy Michael's card, so this
is the card that became her wedding card:

Now I use the heart stamp every year to make
an anniversary card for my DD and her DH:
A mini heart is being added, for they have a little son now.
The background of this card is made with bistre/bister powder.
The large hearts are stamped and embossed with white
embossing powder. The little heart with red embossing powder.

In April  2008 I met Michael Strong in person at
a stamp show and helped him out at his booth.
As payment I received some of his stamps.
So what to do with all these stamps, besides stamping........
Yes, I decided to start a group and share
all the fun ideas of these stamps and inspire
others to use the stamps.

At first I made a card every day for over a year, but than
a friend came up with the idea: Card Captain.
One member sharing a card from Monday to Friday.
We have been doing this ever since and Iam
very thankful for all of you who do this.

This card is made with Michael's pot stamp
in combination with the Workof Art stamp set
by Stampin 'Up! and the bistre/ bister powder.
I share a card with the group every Saturday
and a scrapbookpage every Sunday.
Hope I can go on doing this group,
with your help, for many more years.

Now here is the list of all participants:
2. Shelly
4. Yael
5. Herma
7. Lori
8. Joanna
9. Jill
10. Laura
11. Hetty - you are here!

And now on to the inspiration of
the master himself.
Please hop over to

ps. if you leave a comment to my blog
you might win one of Michael's stamps!

Thanks for looking and
have a creative day!

Saturday card: seahorse

This week on the Michael Strong stampgroup
we had a card captain (that is one of the members
who shares a card from Monday to Friday)
who showed a card each day with  a theme:
a Michael Strong stamp in combination  with the
Stampin'Up! set Work of Art.

As I have this set too, I decided to follow her
idea and here is my card. The background for this
card is made with bistre/ bister (a fun powder
that is used in combination with water for coloring).

The sentiment is a stamp by JavaJoanne
The seahorse is also colored with bistre.
When the colored powder is on a palet
and you add water, you can use this to color
your image with a brush.

Hope you will come back again tomorrow
when we have a Michael Strong Blog Hop
with 11 blogs participating and stamps to win!!

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a creative day!
