King Day

Today it is "Kingday"in The Netherlands and even
google knows about it. We celebrate the birthday of
our King Willem-Alexander.
It is a free day and all around the country there are
celebrations, flee markets and musical festivals.
With our national flag we have a special orange pennant,
that points to a celebration in the Royal Home.
The Roals are from The House of Orange, that is why
today everything is colored orange, even the flowers:
Our beautiful azalea is starting to bloom today!
So this gave me the idea to make some orange colored cards.
Here are the two cards I made.
I used a Stampin'Up! set called Just Because.

The background to my card is made with my
favorite technique: dirict to paper technique.
Add some colors to the craft sheet and add some
water. Now take the paper and get the color
on your paper by putting the paper to the craft sheet.

Here the finished cards with the
stamped image added to the orange background.

The image is colored with SU! blending pens
and splattered with a little orange ink.

The sentiment is from another SU! set called
Hello Cupcake.

Here you see the other card, with another
ribbon and image. These plants are so
versetile and easy to color. For some bling
I added little sticky gemstones to both cards.

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

King Day 2017

It is a special day today in TheNetherlands.
We are celebrating King Day:
The birthday of our King Willem-Alexander.
Out on the streets there is a big flee market and
people are all dressed up in  orange, for our king
is from The House of Orange.

Of course I have to show my American friend
around and have her dress up in orange too!
After a great part of the day outside, we end up
stamping in my craftroom.

On top you see a page I made with Club Scraps
digital Delft kit from March.

And here is a birthday card for the king
with Michael Strongs tulip stamps.

I started the card with stamping the small tulip
in orange in for the background.

The tulip i stamped on orange and green paper
and is embossed with white embossing powder.
Cutting the flower from the orange and using the
green leave part together on a gold background
cut with the matching metal tulip die.
Finishing of the card with an orange ribbon
and a bithday sentiment.

With some leftover pieces this 2nd card was made.
First I made the aquarel background with the direct to paper
technique. I used spiced marmalade distress ink.
With the same inkpad I stamped the small tulip stamp
and added the bees . Then in black the sentiment
(by Penny Black) is added. I thjought there was too
much white and I look some bubble wrap and  the
same ink to spice up the background.

Thank you for looking
and have a creative day!

Sunday Scrap Page: Orange

After yesterday's  post, you must have seen this page coming!
I had so many beautiful pictures of King Day,
that I had this page in my head and made it in a jiffy.

In the background you see the ground plan of the
visit of the King. I had printed this yesterday to see what
was a good place to stand and wait. Well, we had a
perfect spot.

As I had explained to you yesterday why we use orange,
I had to use it for the scrappage too. I decorated the page with
tulip stamps (large and small by Michael Strong).
The orange tulips are embossed with white
embossing power and the leaves are colored with green
distress ink.

The small tulip is stamped in neon orange
and also the leaves are colored with green
distress ink.

The sentiment is by Tim Holtz.

Thanks for looking,

Have a creative day!

King Day 2014

Today is a special day in The Netherlands.
We celebrate King WillemAlexander's birthday
and this is a free day in The Netherlands and
people are dressed up in orange, there are flee markets
everywere and the King and his family visit some places
in our country. This year one of the places was Amstelveen.

Amstelveen is next to were we live, so we took
our bicycles and went on our way this morning
to see the King. And we were lucky!!
My husband took some perfect pictures:
Beautiful flowers everywhere.
Picture while waiting for the Roayal Family to arrive.

Children singing for this event.

And here they are.
You see our former Queen Beatrix,
her son Willem Alexander, now our King
and his eldest daugter Princes Amalia.

In blue is our Queen Maxima.

After they spend an hour in town, looking at all
the activities, they went on their way again
and so did we.

We went to the old centre of town to have a look
at the flee market and so did a few other people!

Oh yes and of course I made a card for today:
The focal point of this card is a Washi tape rosette
(one of the techniques of the latest newsletter
of the Technique Junkies) with the mini flower
by Michael Strong stamped in orange and
 embossed with clear embossing powder.

This is the inside of the card.

Why all this orange you may ask:
well, that is because the RoyalFamily is from
The House Of Orange!
....and even google knows it:
Have a creative day!
