Simon Say Stamp Monday Blog:

Vintage/ Past Times

I have this suitcase full of vintage photo's.

They are all from my grandparents form my father's side.

I do know some of the people, but a lot I do not know

who they are. Just loving all the pictures.

I know I will use some for vintage projects.

There are all various kinds of pictures

for all kinds of projects.

So I started with choosing this picture of 

Great grandmother Sara (who died giving

birth to my grandfather). So I think she

does need a tibute.

I started covering the tag with Tim Holtz

tissue paper, cut the ornate frame and used an

oval die to cut the picture to match the

inside of the frame.

For the tag I used two colors of distress oxide in:

picked raspberry and walnut stain.

I used  the scribbles THS036 stencil

to make the background .

Here is the halftone stamp again. Seems to be

a favorite these days!

Next I used the Sewing Stamps THMB007 by Tim

Holtz and colored thes with Distress Markers.

This is the finished look of the background.

And here is the finished tag.

The ribbons and flowers are colored with the same 

distress inks i used for coloring by adding them

to the kraft mat with some water.

Dried them with the heat gun.

Here the bow on top of the tag. I wrapped the rbbon 

around my fingers and tied it together with a piece of hemp.

This came through the whole and I tied it together so I can hang 

the tag in my craftroom. I used a Tim Holtz vintage safety pin

to add the bow to the tag.

I thougt this sentiment was perfect for what

Great Grandmother Sara had in mind before

she gave birth to my grandfather on the 8th of

April 1893.

Here a good look at the frame. I cut it out of kraft paper

and added some pink ink before spraying it with

Mica Bronze Spray. The flowers are added to the 

frame with a brad in the heart of the flower.

I also added some buttons tied with hemp to the tag.

These are from the Sewing Rom Bigz die.

Vintage Printables

I am having fun with my new digital images from

Create with TLC. I bought all these images

from Paulette's Etsy Shop HERE.

My grandson loves lions and other wild animals

and once i had these images, I suddenly had all

these ideas for cards.

The cards are all made with photoshop

and printed on my computer to make them into

real cards. Please take a look here:

The ribbons are from my photoshop stash.

Here you see the complete images that you

get in the animal set.

 The flowers were a freebie and the giraffes came as a gift

after I bought the animals.

and you know what that means:

a LOT of digital FREEBIES!!

The theme is a Vintage Summer

and I just made a quick card with

the blog hop image.

I printed the image on kraft paper twice

and cut it out and ruffled the borders to

give it a shabby look.

The roses make it look even more vintage

and some pink baker's twine and a dotty piece of paper

were added too. Now all I have to do

is to make my card for the hop

and boy did I get a great image to play with!

Club Scrap August technique challenge: Sepia coloring

Welcome to the extended blog post from the

Club Scrap Technique challenge Blog post.

I thought it was going to be way to long, so I split it in two

I have two more sepia ideas for you and a bonus project.

Above you see the 3 cards with the techniques I want 

to share with you.

for only $ 4,95. I love using the digital kit before the paper kit

arrives at my doorstep. With this I show you how

to use this digital kit for the sepia technique too.

The left image is one of the images from the kit and

I turned it into sepia colors with an online program:

You just upload your image and choose a sepia filter

and boom you changed all the colors and can download the changed image.

This is the easiest way for those of you who are not so great

with photoshop.

To Finish the card I used another fun technique:

making your own sepia colored paper.

Here another piece of paper from the dgital kit.

Put it in an embossing folder and add vintage ink to the

topside of the folder. Then run it trough the

big shot and you have your own sepira colored paper.

This is the result.

Don't you just love the combination of the vintage

pictures with the home made sepia paper?

Hope you give it a try.

Now maybe you are not so into all these 

brown tones, so I have a bonus card for you

with a little more color:

For this card I also turned one of the digital images

from the Boardwalk digital kit into a sepia colored image.

But For the background I jused some color.

I ran a piece of white cardstock through my bigsot with

an embossing folder. Then I colored some of the raised parts

with vurlap brown and faded jeans distress ink.

When finished I sprayed it with a little water

and run it again through the big shot.

NOT inside the embossing folder, but on top off it.

This way the water spreads and gives a lovely look

to the paper. After drying I also sprayed the paper with 

mica silver destress spray (a pity you cannot see the

beautiful shimmer on this paper).

This is one of my favourite techniques from the

Technique Junkies. it is called antiqued wallpaper.

Club Scrap Technique of the Month: Embellishment

The technique of the month at the Club Scrap blog 

is home made embellishments. I love that!!

Thank you Tina for coming up with this fun idea.

And as I always wanted to make these crochet 

flowers from a button, this is the time to do it!

Stamps are from this months Club Scrap kit Boardwalk.

I also found a good video for those of you who want to

give this technique a try:

It is really an easy thing to do and does not take a lot of time

(when you know how tocrochet that is).

I had a little bit of this natural colored cotton with a 

tiny gold trough it. Perfect for my vintage card.

And as for the beach, I thought of an old but 

much loved technique. Use a piece of torn post it,

a blending tool and an inkpad.Move the post it 

note and ink it up every time you move it.

After stamping the image with walnut stain, I put the

inkpad on the craft sheet,alittle water and a brush

to color the image.

I have some more embellishment ideas,but no more time.

Vintage Mother's Day cards

Here another version of cards,

that I made with one of the sentiments from

Create with TLC

For my cards I found some vintage flower pictures online

and added the sentiment to these pictures in photoshop.

I am not good with photoshop,but I have been taught how

to add a sentiment to a picture! Of course I cannot make just a

digital card and had to add a little stamping (on the small tag) 

and a ribbon on a piee of die cut paper (sizzix -Tim Holtz thinlit).

Here another vintage picture. The sentiment is the same, just 

changed the color of the lettering (yeah! I can do that too!!)

Here I added a precut doily, some musical washi tape ,

a ribbon and 2 ready made roses.
