July tag: The Olympics

This is my July contribution for Tim Holtz
12 tags of 2012.
This time my tag is a card for the Olympic Games,
because the games will start coming Friday July 27.
I used the new bright colors of alcohol ink and pitch black. kraft papers
and a stamp with London on it from the Papillon set
and the rings stamp from the Bitty Grunge set.
This is the finished card. With layers of the Brittish flag as
kraft colors in the background as well as the ribbon.
I made the number out of metal from a can
of soda and used the numbers die that I won from Sizzix.
Why 30 you may ask, that is because these are
the 30th Olympic Games.
The rings are grungy and colored and sprayed with
canned air in the exact same colors of the Olympic rings.
I used: Sail Boat blue, Pitch Black and Watermelon on top
and Sunshine Yellow and Citrus green.

Baby Bragbook finished

Owen has come in our lives on July 2nd  (2-7) of this year
and he is our little star!
He is the firstborn to my firstborn, who was born on the
7th of Feburary (7-2). Great date!
So here is the finished bragbook I made for him.
This book has only pictures of the first day he is with us.
The base of this book is a chipboard book with round tabs
that I bought especially to make this.
You will notice I used many different papers
and stamps from all kinds of different brands.
Here you see all the pages of the book. On the round tabs I
glued punched out yellow circles and you can read
Baby Owen on the tabs. I made the letters with a Tim
Holtz die called vintage market alphabet. You will notice
I have used these letters all over the book.
(larger version of all pictures when you click on them)

Background paper is by Paper Salon called bliss boy.
I love using papers that are great to use on both sides.
Behand dthe pictures there is some hidden journaling.
Paper here is by Basicgrey collection Nook&Pandry.
I found this cute baby feet embossing die that I used
here. The colored digital pictures are by Create with TLC.
Here you see one proud grandma!
Paper Salon paper again. Letters and frame are
by Michael Strong and embossed with glitter embossing powder.
The orange paper is by Echo Park, serie Dots and Stripes.
Stamps are by Stampin Up! Fund flowers and brads for
embellishments as well as some baker's twine.
More Echo Park paper. This time I used the Essentials set.
Onesies cut out with my cricut and some buttons added
with scrapfloss. A clothes hanger and some measuring tape
from Tim Holtz collection and baker's twine again.
Paper by My Mind's Eye and it is the Lime Twist collection.
Stamps by Stampin'Up!. Alle new titles are printed with
the computer Stars cut out with dies from Spellbinder.
This is the back of the book. Cute picture
of Owen's tiny feet. The subway art in the
background i found on the internet.
Just google baby boy saubway art.

Some ribbons are knotted to the bookbinding rings
that keep the pages together.

Thanks  for looking and
have a creative day!

Brewed Awakenings 2

Good Morning!
Did you have your cup of coffee yet?

I did and here is my 2nd card with the
It is a standing card made out of apiece
of 5,5"x 3,75" folded in half.
On top of the card I made a 4,75"x 3,25" pannel.
I decorated this backfround with the
stencil that is found in this kit.
You can use this stencil for cards as well ad
for scrapbook pages.

On the oval pannel (made with spellbinders)
I used a technique called: Pixel Embellishments
and the instructions for this technique can be
found on Splitcoaststampers HERE.

The charm and the fibre is included in the kit.
Are you awake now? Want to see more?
Soon........

Creative greetings,

Brewed Awakenings 1

Yesterday my new Club Scrap pizzabox arrived.
Inside was a kit called Brewed Awakenings.
This kit has not only scrappapers, but also
projects inside with tutorals to follow online
(you get a password when you buy the kit).
These tutorials by Kay Williamson and Tricia Morris
are very instructive and even have written
instructions to go with it as well.
Before starting to use the stamps,
they have to be prepared.
They are unmounted and need to be cut.
I want to share with you how I do this
before shareing all the artwork I make
out of this box.

I start with cutting the rubber and but it on a newspaper
with the backside up to smear  "Mount-It" adhesive on it.
This needs to dry. It is a kind of glue that will stay sticky
and so i can use this to stick the stamp to an acrylic blog.

While waiting for the stamps to dry, I could not resisit
and use my old Club Scrap Mocha Java stamps and paper
to make these two cards. Unfortunately these stamps are
all sold out, but you can always try and find them on Ebay.
Now the stamps are dry. And one can stick them to a plastic
background. So this is what I do:
I make a mirrored copy of the sheet that comes with the stamps.
I glue them back to back and
I stick the sheet into a laminated pouch and laminate the
stamp sheet.
When the sheet has been trough the machine it is
ready to stick the stamps on.
When all the stamps are on the sheet, I keep
the stamps in a file like this:
On one side you can see the stamps and on the
otherside you see the rubber. I keep one year
of Club Scrap stamps in one folder.

Now I can stamp!
For my first project I used:
the stencil from the Brewed Awakenings box
the unmounted stamps,
a sheet op paper cut 4,5 x 5,5
one of the pannels
Club Scrap hybrid inkpad earth and sandstone
brads from my stash
First I used the stencil to add the word
coffee to the pannel. I made it in two colors
with the hybrid ink pads.
Light on the top and dark on the bottom.

When it was dry I stamped the cups and colored
them with the faber castel pencils from the
Full Circle kit.
With one of the word stamps I finish the stamping.
The border of the pannel is distressed and
added some earth color with a blender tool.
This is the finished card:
Please come back again to see the other
projects I am going to make soon.

Have a creative day!

Create with TLC July Blog Hop

Hello all!
Here another Create with TLC Blog Hop with
Words, Timeless and Beautiful artwork for YOU.
I hope you came here via Jennifer's Blog
and grabbed her freebie and let yourself be  inspired
by her wonderful artwork.

Now on to my work. I have stepped down from the
Design Team, because I have broken my arm 6 weeks ago
and slowly am getting back into crafting again.
Still need some fysiotherapy.
I am honoured to be part of this blog hope and you will be
surprised what this  wonderful new design team
has in the making for you.

So let's go:
I have made two card this time.
The first card is one you can use for any ocassion.

( click on the image and safe it
to your computer for personal use).

This beautiful image is  printed on paper, white
or as I have done on colored paper. I colored the
image with copic markers and used a little glitter glue
on the butterflies. The background is a few layers
of scrap paper on top of each other and the borders
are all distressed and colores with victorian lace distress ink.

Another reason why I  stepped down from the
Design Team is because this week my first grandchild
was born and I need some time adjusting
(my DD and SIL live with us temporarily).

So for my second card  I used the image for
a scrap card with a photo of my new grandson.
Today he is 6 days old
I printed  the "life" image on a piece of cardstock and
cut it to 5,25"x 5,25" and made a window for
the picture next to the digital image.
I also printed another Create with Tlc sentiment.

The image is colored with copic markers.
I finished of the card with a ribbon  and little blue gemstones.
Hope you got some ideas from my cards.

Oh sorry.......you need more?!
