Hello my creative friends,
As you follow my blog, I usually share with you my creative projects, but this time I have something completely different. I also love to read and since one can download books on the Ipad, I have become addicted to reading on my ipad. Why, not because I do not like real books, I do! But because one can take so many books on vacation that do not take up space in your luggage (I do have one real book always with me, for when my Ipad is down :-)} Another advantage is that you can read in the dark, without disturbing ones spouse.
The other day I came upon this book:
I found it on Amazon HERE and it was beautifully written as well as an interesting and heartbreaking story about the Jewish people in Rhodes during World War 2, that I knew nothing about. So after I had finished this book about what happened to a family from Rhodes and their struggle to stay alive, I looked online and found there were more books by this writer and particulary one about the Jews in Amsterdam:
It relates to the underground people that did a lot of work in forgery to save as many people as possible.
It is heartbreaking to read what has happend during these terrible 5 years of war. As far as my knowledge of history goes, all these things have really happened, just the story around it is fiction, but all so real. I had to put my book away several times, because just thinking about my family in these terrible times was too much.
The Librarian of Amsterdam can be found HERE.
I looked up the writer of these books - Uri Dushy and he is not only a writer, he is also an artist andlives in Israel. His latest book is arriving this month and I am looking forward to read this.
You find the Ballerina of Paris HERE.
One cannot change history, but one can learn from it and hope this will never happen again.
If you have read the books I love to hear your comment.
Thank you for reading and enjoy your day!
