Sunday Scrap page: Smooshing and spiders

Last week i shared a picture I made of a spider on Facebook.
I got so many comments, I could not believe it.
It gave me the idea tomake my Sunday page about the spiders!
(Click on the photo for an even larger view)
The technique for the background of this page is the same as my card
from yesterday and it is called "smooshing technique".
It is not invented by me,but has been around on internet.
It is a kind of direct to paper technique, but a little different.

You need:
acrylic sheet
water spritzer
ink: this can be inkpad, marker, ink refil, distress stain
paper towel
heat gun
I used distress stains this time.
Put a few drops of distress stain on the
acrylic sheet, turn it over and press to your paper.

Clean the sheet with a paper towel.
Dry the 1st color with a heat gun.
Put a second color on the acrylic sheet
and press to the paper.
Clean the sheet and dry the second color.
This way the colors down run trough
and you see theme more clearly.
And with the 3rd color you do the same and this is the result.
You see a lot of dotted colors.

If you want it more spread out,you add a few drops of
water to the color on the acrylic sheetbefore
turning it over to the paper.
The rest is the same.

Here you see the difference clearly.
A. color on paper without water
B. color on paper with water

It just depends on what kind of background
you are looking for.

For mys scrap page I used the one with water.
Papers are fro the Club Scrap Cantina Kit.
The Spiderweb is from a Tim Holtz Halloween set
and the leaves are from the new  Michael Strong
Pumpkin Harvest set.

Here you see some details of the finished page.
I colored the leaves with pencil. Stamped some extra
leaves and cut them out and used double sided foam
tape to add themtothe page. This time I used tiny
golden holographic sticky  circles on the dots
of the design.

The sentiment is printed by computer.
and decorated with stamps and ink.

Some leaves on the corner of the photo  for decoration.

Thank you for looking!

Have a creative day!

Your spider layout is very fun and timely! I have been seeing lots of spiders lately! One last night on the car window...luckily it was on the OUTSIDE!!! I think it's great how you document all kinds of things in your scrap pages, Hetty!!! Love the background (thanks for the tutorial) and how you used Mike's new leaves stamp!! GREAT photos of your spider, by the way! ...as long as she stays OUTSIDE the house!
