Patriotic

Paulette is looking for Patriotic inspiration
because of July 4th is around the corner.
So I came up with this fun card.
The Uncle Sam hat is a freebie on
the blog HERE.

The background paper is also by
Create with TLC.
Uncle Sam is made with circle and scalloped
spelbinders and a marker for the eyes and mouth.
For the inside of the card I used a free
printable subway art, that I found here:
As a fun trick i added the big star on top
that you can pull out and get a sentiment
out of the hat saying: G'd Bless America
Hopefully you are inspired!

Sizzix and Tim Holtz

Hi there,
Today finally my prize from Sizzix arrived.
It is a wonderful die with numbers
that I think goes great with my word play die.
Now to come up with some fun designs.
Thank you so much Sizzix
for picking me!

Of course I had to look on the Sizzix Blog
and I noticed the wonderful Bon Voyage tag
by Tammy Tutterow and this
inspired me to make the following
tag with my new Tim Holtz stamps.

As I am of to the US end of this year
I thought it would be fun to have the
airplaine stamps to use for my scrapbook.
But of course I had to play with it now.

Starting with the background I show
you how I build this tag.
As the airplain is up in the clouds,
I cut out a cloud from a piece of paper and
used this as a mask to make this background
with broken china and a blender tool.
When done I took my swirls embossing folder
and run tag and folder through the Vagabond.
This is how it looks when finsished.
Of course I distressed the outside and added
'some more broken chine with my blender tool.
Then I used my stamps and
cut them out with scissors and used some vintage photo
distress ink around it. The airplain I colored with
a silver gelpen. Also I found some of my US boarding
passes from one of my previous trips and used it  for this tag.
As I have some boarding passes left,
I sure going to use them for some future art.
This is the top of the tag with a chain instead of
a ribbon to give it more of a luggage tag look
and a token hanging from this. I choose the one with wander
written on it. No explanation needed I guess.
Her the bottom part of the tag with everything
coming together in a collage kind of way.
The text was printed on kraft paper, cut out and
distressed. On the compass I added one
of the game spinners from the idea-ology collection.

Art Abandonment

Have you ever heared of Art Abandonment?
It is something that was started by Michael deMeng
and you can read about it on his blog.

It is all about leaving your art at a normal place for people
to find. It is a gift. You can leave a note attached
with some explanation and an email address
so one can email you to tell you what they think.
 Today I dropped two items.
This card/box is called a pop up box card
and here is a link to a video tutorial:

All wrapped up and ready to be placed in a shop.

The second object is a project from Club Scrap
2009 Ornamental kit, decorated, stamped and
a pandora bead inside.

This project is left on a table in a restaurant.
What I am curious about is what will people
think when they see it and read the note?
Will they take it of will they bring it to
someone from the restaurant. It is fun to think about
all the things that can happen.
I just hope no one just throws it away.

Sketch Card

Today I share with you the card I made for
Every month we have a new sketch, that I find on
the internet. There are so many wonderful sketches
out on the web and they are great to try and give
your card a different look.
Above you see the sketch that I used to
make this card with my Michael Strong circle stamp
and one of the little accent stamps.
All stamps are embossed with copper embossing powder.
For coloring I used my new distress ink summer color
"picked raspberry"and 2 copic markers RV 06 and RV 021.
Tge plowers are prima in different colors.
To finish the card I embrodered a line and added some pearls and gemstones.
The Thank you stamp is also by Michael Strong
and the banner is from the Tim Holtz Sizzix die.

Happy Father's Day

So, I have been crafting a little more.
Only one card a day.
How could I pass on Father's Day without a
card made by me? Impossible.
Now with all these mustaches I see popping up
around the internet and on cards, I love the idea
because my DH has a mustache so it is kind of
fun to see what I can come up with.

On the first card I used the small cloisonné leaves
by Michael Strong embossed in white on a piece
of scrap paper.

The wonderful bow-tie vidieo tutorial is here:
For the second card I used a paper pack by Bo Bunny and
and sentiments by CTMH (front) and Club Scrap (inside).

Have a creative day!

TH June tag: Happy Father's Day!

So I did a little stamping,
just to try it out and why not start with
the Tim Holtz tag for June.

You can see all of Tim's instructions on
his blog here:

and it is worth to hop over there
and see all the other beautiful tags
everyone from all over the world made
according to Tim's instructions.
I decided to make this tag for
Father's day and found an old picture
of me and my dad.
I think I wasn't even 1 year old on this picture.
My dad is not with us anymore so this is
a trip down memory lane.
It was fun to have that black and white
picture colored with distress inks.
This technique I will defenitely do again.

My dad loved making pictures,
so I used the film strip with the letter decoration
and added some glossy accent to make
the letters shine.

For the coin on top I used the F.
My father's name is Frits and he is
forever in my heart. The lion stamp I used
because I am in the Netherlands and we
have the lion in the arms of The Netherlands..

I remember my father telling us, that during the war,
when he was in hiding he made a lion from wood and
painted it, to pass the time. This wooden lion has
been in his office as long as I can remember.
My dad was an engineer, so instead of using the pen nibs
I chose to use the gadget gears that
I pained gold, silver and bronze.
I love how the flowers look so nice after painting
and adding them to the tag.
Finally I stamped the car. When my parent's
where married 12 1/2 year we went out driving a car
like this to the restaurant. I have to find that picture we have
from this occassion.

Hope you all surprise your dad's and
 Have a creative day!
